THE
ROUNDUP

A FILM BY FABIO LUCCHINI

“Marseilles is the shit hole of Europe, we need to raise the port districts to the ground and let their inhabitants perish under the simple pressure of the explosion.”
Heinrich Himmler, chief of the SS.

Six days after the writing of these words, the inhabitants of the quartier Saint Jean, Marseilles’ oldest neighbourhood, were rounded up and their houses razed to the ground. 80 years later, local lawyer Pascal and journeyman historian Michel help a group of survivors file a complaint for crimes against humanity. By following the investigation, The Forgotten Roundup tells of the events that led up to one of the darkest and yet almost unknown crimes carried out by Nazi and collaborationist forces in Europe.
